client, Ross Memorial Hospital, is seeking to replace a retired OBGYN physician to join another specialist colleague and a 7-member group of Family Physicians who provide OBGYN services. OBGYN Department / Position
- The position is for a FT OBGYN for a mix of primary and consulting OB and GYNE services.
- Strong support for replacement OBGYN from hospital and departments of surgery and anaesthesia.
- Current members include: 1 FT OBGYN, 7 Family Physicians and 4 Midwives.br>
- Catchment area is 78,000; Market share is 80%.
- On-call expectation is 1:4.
- Approximately 450 deliveries expected next year. Approximately 300 are delivered by Obstetricians with remainder delivered by Family Physicians and Midwives.
- Previous OBGYN had 1.5 days/week of elective OR time plus access to a weekly colposcopy clinic.
C/S rate is 28-30%.
- Epidural services available 24/7.
- Anaesthesia services provided by a 6-member group of FT and GP Anaesthesiologists.
- Can perform all major GYNE and Laparoscopic procedures other than major cancer surgeries.
- Paediatric services currently provided by a designated group of Family Physicians (GP Neonate Group). Nursery has 2 incubators, 1 transport incubator and 2 assessment sites.
- OR has 4 major rooms, 2 minor rooms and 2 colonoscopy rooms plus 14 Recovery Room beds.
- Approximately 90% of surgeries are day surgeries with capacity for 40 patients per day.
- There is a LDRP model with 8 rooms, each with fetal cardiac monitoring, plus 3 antepartum rooms.
- Fibronectin testing available.
- GYNE patients utilize the 40-bed surgical floor.
Profile of the Area
Lindsay is the largest community which, in association with others such as Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon, comprise the city of Kawartha Lakes.
Located one hour northeast of the GTA, Kawartha Lakes has a population of approximately 80,000 and Lindsay a population of approximately 20,000. The city is the “gateway” to the Kawartha Lakes Region, one of Ontario's and Canada's most popular vacation destinations.
Proximity to the GTA has a significant impact on the area, with many residents commuting to the GTA for work via highways 35/115, 7 and the 401. The area experiences a significant increase in population with seasonal residents.

Our clients, Grand River Hospital (GRH) and St. Marys General Hospital (SMGH) are seeking a Plastic Surgeon to replace a retiring surgeon. Serving an immediate catchment population of approximately 450,000 and an expanded catchment population of 600,000 for plastic surgery, this position offers an opportunity for an immediate busy surgical practice plus the optional opportunity to participate in academic activities with the advent of a satellite medical school affiliated with McMaster University being located in Kitchener.
The Kitchener-Waterloo (KW) area is a vibrant, rapidly expanding community of 350,000 with the advantages of being adjacent to both scenic rural and recreational areas plus major urban centres.
The Hospitals
GRH is a fully accredited, 500+ bed community hospital with an operating budget of $220M. GRH includes the Kitchener-Waterloo Health Centre (KWHC providing acute care services) and Freeport Health Centre (FHC providing complex continuing care and rehabilitation services). SMGH, with an annual budget of $110M, has 191 beds and is a regional center for Cardiac Care.

Serving a population of more than 450,000, the majority of specialties and sub-specialties are represented in KW. Many programs offered at KW are recognized as being some of the best in the province.
The hospitals have academic affiliations with the University of Western Ontario and McMaster University, University of Waterloo as well as Conestoga College. The hospitals also provide educational services to Nursing, Medical Imaging, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, and MSW students who are registered with local universities and community colleges and baccalaureate graduates in Nutrition.

Information Technology (IT)
McKesson provides the IT infrastructure for GRH. SMGH operates the Meditech system. Electronic clinical documentation has been introduced to all medical/surgical units and outpatient oncology. Input and access via a wireless network will support bedside documentation. Physicians have remote access to patient medication records, diagnostic data and transcribed reports. Both hospitals have PACS.

There are approximately 220 specialists, representing the majority of specialties and subspecialties, and 40 Family Physicians on active staff. An additional 130+ Family Physicians have courtesy privileges.

Our
client, Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH), is seeking two general radiologists to join its current team in providing service in this rapidly expanding community in southwestern Ontario.
.
Cambridge and its environs provide the advantage of being adjacent to major urban centres in association with its accessibility to many rural and scenic recreational areas.
The Hospital
There has been a hospital in Cambridge since 1888. The current hospital is a single site organization with an annual budget in excess of $97M, serving an expanding catchment population of approximately 140,000. The hospital has 180 beds offering services in the major specialties and subspecialties. There are in excess of 41,000 emergency visits per year.
CMH is in the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) 3 area and is adjacent to Kitchener, twenty-five minutes away, which provides regional services in cardiology, nephrology and oncology. Tertiary referral centres for Cambridge include the hospital systems in Hamilton, London and Toronto.
CMH plans to add 64 new beds within its planned capital redevelopment project. Expansion will include an additional 32 beds for medicine, surgery and ICU, a new Schedule 1 23-bed adult mental health service, a new 20-place mental health day hospital, 31 new rehabilitation beds and expanded surgical services including a seventh Operating Room plus expanded endoscopy and cystoscopy facilities.
Information Technology
CMH has a Meditech information system. PACS is fully interfaced to the Meditech Radiology Information System. Remote access is provided via the CMH network to Meditech, PACS, email and Internet via a secured web-based portal. The existing dictating system will soon be replaced by a new voice recognition system with back-end and front-end voice systems for radiology. CMH continues to move rapidly to a fully electronic medical record system by continuing to introduce electronic processes.
Medical Staff
There are in excess of 200 medical staff members at CMH representing the specialties of: Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Respirology, Oncology, Dermatology, Infectious Disease, Anaesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, OBGYN, Dental Surgery, Psychiatry, Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Medicine.
Department of Diagnostic Imaging/Position
The vacant positions exist as a result of radiologists retirements and relocation for personal reasons.
- The positions offered are for FT hospital-based services.
- There are currently 2FT radiologists and 3 PT Nuclear Medicine physicians.
- The immediate goal is to recruit two full-time staff radiologists.
- Consideration will also be given to a candidate who may wish to provide a leadership role.
- On-call rotation is shared equally with the majority of calls being handled via teleradiology.

Remuneratoin and Incentives
- Remuneration is on the basis of a fee-for-service model. This provides for a higher than average income potential which is limited only by the time devoted to clinical practice. The opportunity for an immediate busy practice is evidenced by the current waiting list for office consultation, which is six ten months.
- On-call payments will be provided as per the HOCC agreement.
- Opportunities for additional income include participation in research and academic activities.
- Assistance with relocation and other costs is available.

client, Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (PSFDH), is seeking two full-time OB/GYNs to provide services in their attractive community situated equally distant (a one-hour drive) from Ottawa and Kingston. PSFDH is an amalgamated, two hospital facility located in the towns of Perth and Smiths Falls serving a catchment population of approximately 44,000 residents.
The Hospital/Position/Practice
- A 97-bed, fully accredited, acute care facility.
- Medical staff includes: 32 family doctors, 2 internists, 1 general surgeon, 2 orthopaedic surgeons, 1 urologist, 1 OBGYN, 1 ENT surgeon, 4 emergency physicians, 1 radiologist, 1 physiatrist, anaesthesia provided by 4 GP anaesthesiologists. Visiting consulting services are provided for paediatrics, dermatology, oncology, geriatrics, and psychiatry.
- 24/7 emergency room services (25 family and itinerant physicians) are provided in addition to a broad range of laboratory and diagnostic services, general rehabilitation services, oncology/palliative care services, dietician and diabetic education program.
- Active partnership with other hospitals allow for on-site chemotherapy clinic (in association with the Ottawa and Kingston Regional Cancer Centres), a satellite dialysis unit (in association with Kingston) and a vascular protection clinic (in association with Kingston General Hospital).

The Department / Position
- Positions available to replace the current departing OB/GYN.
- Currently, 300+ deliveries annually with potential for 500 annually.
- Current OB services provided by 1 OB/GYN plus 3 committed FPs (one performs CSs).
- Other surgical support services provided by 1 Urologist and 1 General Surgeon plus 24/7 anaesthesia coverage for surgery and epidurals.
- C/S rate 30%. No therapeutic abortions are performed at the hospital.
- 2 ORs, 4 birthing rooms, 12 OB/GYN beds, combined care/rooming in.
- Two full OR days/week available plus a colposcopy clinic every 2 weeks.
- All major GYN procedures can be performed, including LAVHs.
- A new site is being developed with new state of the art labour suites (4) and OR theatres (3).
- Currently, fee for service with HOCC stipends for OB call divided amongst the OB providers.
- Currently exploring an AFP for the specialist position(s).
- Competent and professional nursing staff (all RNs) - 4 FT/8 PT.
- Current on-call responsibilities: 1 in 2 1 in 3 weekends for c-section backup. 1 in 4 1 in 5 weekends for primary care deliveries. Currently, practitioners choose to do their own deliveries during the week with sign-out amongst colleagues as needed. Weekend call is currently 5 pm Friday to 8 am Monday.
Qualifications Required
- FRCP(C) in OB/GYN.
- Eligible for licensure in Ontario.
