  • ANESTHESIOLOGISTS (full-time or part-time)

    Stratford General Hospital, Stratford, ON

    Our client, Stratford General Hospital, part of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA), is a 120-bed hospital and the largest hospital in the HPHA.  It is the regional referral centre for Huron and Perth County residents, offering a broad range of medical and surgical inpatient services.  Surgical specialties include General, Orthopedics, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Plastics, and Ophthalmology.

    The Stratford site also provides Critical Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Maternal Child, Telemetry/Stroke (District Stroke Centre), Mental Health, Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation in-patient services.  The Emergency Department is staffed by FRCPC and EM physicians and sees over 35,000 patients per year.

    Candidates must be certified, or be eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  CPSO pathway licensure is easily available for US Board Certified Physicians with new regulations implemented in 2023 that have created a straight forward licensure process without the requirement for supervision.

    With 6 FRCPC Anesthesiologists and 1 FM/A working at the Stratford site, the Anesthesiology Department covers the Operating Rooms, Obstetrical Services, and Preoperative work including 11,000 elective surgeries, 676 hip/knee arthroplasty surgeries, 1,200 deliveries including 350-400 C-sections (Level 2 NICU), and 300 pediatric cases per year.

    Anesthesiologists at HPHA have the opportunity to teach and mentor residents and medical students from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University, with professional staff members eligible to hold a University appointment.

    Our client, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA), is responsible for the design, planning and delivery of health and social services across the Northwest Territories (NWT).  The Territorial Medical Director (TMD) is the most senior physician administrative leader in the NTHSSA and is a member of the NTHSSA’s executive team.  The TMD position can be completed by a Family Physician or Specialist in Yellowknife.

    This position opportunity is for a one (1) year term, without a renewal option.  The TMD position is allocated 0.8 FTE and is expected to also maintain 0.2 FTE clinical practice in family or specialty medicine.   The current clinical needs for a Family Physician are: ER; Hospitalist; FP-obstetrics; Anesthesia; Primary Care; and Long-term care.  The current clinical needs for a Specialist are: ENT; Internal Medicine; General Surgeon; Gastroenterologist; OBGYN; Orthopedic Surgeon; Psychiatry; Ophthalmology; General radiology; and Pediatrics.

    The Annual Salary range for a full-time Family Physician ranges from $262,992 to $350,656 in gross earnings plus $52,792 – $65,942 for benefits.  Annual Salary range for a full-time Specialist ranges from $389,639 to $446,423 in gross earnings plus $71,789 – $80,307 in annual benefits.  There is a Recruitment bonus of $25,000 for a 1-year contract.  You must have:

    The Intensive Care Unit is a six-bed, level two closed ICU that includes centralized monitoring and ventilator capacity.  The unit provides support to patients with complex respiratory, cardiac and GI conditions.  It also serves as a surgical step-down unit.  There is strong subspecialist/tertiary support from Health Sciences North.

    The Department of Internal Medicine is expanding their program to a fifth internist.  Opportunities exist for a General Internal Medicine Specialist to join the team, to staff a closed ICU, and provide consultation services to the Emergency Department and in-patient units within a collegial work environment.  In addition to General Internal Medicine and Intensive Care practice, excellent practice opportunities exist for candidates with practice interests in Cardiology, Respirology, Geriatrics, and Endocrinology, as well as other clinical practice areas.

    Emergency Medicine AFA Hourly rates range from $160 per hour to $224 per hour.  Hourly rates are topped up with 37% of shadow billings.  On select shifts there is currently an extra $21/hour being provided to support Critical Care Outreach Team.

    These full-time or part-time positions offer a very attractive compensation package with great flexibility to achieve a work/life balance as well as a generous incentive package including: 

    • Full time (12 – 14 shifts per month) – $125,000 signing bonus for 5 years return of service
    • A 3 year interest free loan of $100,000 for relocation costs with $15,000 forgiven at end of term

    • Part time ED Physicians (8 shifts per month) – $25K signing bonus for 2 years return of service

    NGH is a Level 1 Hospital which has approximately 320 deliveries annually.  Its 4-bed Obstetrical unit has dedicated nursing staff, a separate triage area, and 24/7 access to epidurals, C-sections, and in-house RT.  Norfolk General Hospital serves a catchment population of approximately 110,00 within the Haldimand and Norfolk Communities.  NGH supports more than 4,000 admissions annually.

    NGH is seeking two Obstetrician / Gynecologists to join their dedicated group of 4 Family Medicine OB practitioners.  There is opportunity for full-time or part-time positions.

    :

    Affiliated with McMaster University staff at NGH are eligible for an academic appointment and can participate in post graduate education teaching opportunities with residents and medical learners rotating through Obstetrics. Regular CME opportunities are available and supported.
