The Division of Infectious Diseases provides secondary and tertiary care for the City of London, Southwestern Ontario, and beyond. The Division focuses on finding innovative solutions to the challenges of Infectious pathogens in an academic environment. Their members have particular interests in many areas of Infectious Diseases including HIV, Viral Hepatitis, Infections in Transplant Patients, Infections in inner city health, Infection Control, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infections in developing countries. The emerging understanding of the impact of the human microbiome on health is another area of interest. There will be ample opportunity for research within the Division and collaboration with other members of the Department of Medicine including basic sciences researchers.

The successful candidate will be a Clinician Researcher or Scientist and hold a Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. The appointment will be made to the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, with a cross appointment to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

The successful candidate will hold an MD, or equivalent, be certified, or eligible to be certified in Infectious Diseases as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The successful candidate will have experience providing excellent clinical care. Expected clinical duties of the successful candidate will include participation on the Inpatient Infectious Diseases Consult Teaching Service on a rotation with the team of 6 other adult Infectious Diseases Clinicians. In addition the candidate will participate in the Outpatient Infectious Diseases clinics. Clinical service will not exceed 25% of the candidate’s time.

Stakeholders to the search are open to supporting any research area in Infectious Diseases for any candidate who has demonstrated research productivity in Infectious Diseases or Microbiology/Immunology. Particularly rich opportunities for collaboration are in place for programs related to virulence mechanisms, antimicrobial resistance, or host-pathogen interactions of bacterial pathogens. The existing bacteriology research programs in the Department focus on virulence mechanisms of Helicobacter, Campylobacter, Staphylococci and Streptococci. The existing research academics spearhead successful and ground breaking research programs in HIV and viral pathogenesis, signaling and function of immune cells, and autoimmune disorders. There also will be opportunities for the successful candidate to collaborate in the area of danger signals in tissue injury, improved methods for organ preservation, treatment of viral-induced cancers, microbial septic shock, microbiome studies, and autoimmune mechanisms of rheumatoid arthritis.

The successful candidate’s research will be aided by a newly constructed Imaging Pathogens for Knowledge Translation (ImPaKT) facility. This will include a state-of-the-art hybrid Containment Level (CL) 2+ and CL3 facility capable of supporting molecular and cellular investigations of major CL2 and CL3 restricted pathogenic microbes in conjunction with animal models of infectious disease. Included within the facility are multimodality imaging platforms for multi-spectral optical-x-ray imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) scanners. Research space will be provided by the Department of Microbiology and Immunology under the direction of Dr. Eric Arts, Chair of Microbiology and Immunology.

Opportunities also are available for advanced studies in the epidemiology of infectious diseases in partnership with the ICES program of Ontario. The robust “big data” resources available in association with the interlinked Ontario databases offer opportunities to further research in infections in population health.

The University and Hospitals are offering an exceptional Academic Clinician Researcher or Scientist opportunity that is both attractive and rewarding. The position provides a comprehensive compensation package that will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources: fee for service, alternative funding plan, and academic salary. PSYCHIATRISTS

Windsor Regional Hospital, Windsor, ON

Our client, Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) (www.wrh.on.ca), is a multi-faceted health services organization operating from two main sites, the Metropolitan Campus and the Ouellette Campus. With 483 beds and an operating budget of half a billion dollars, WRH is the regional provider of advanced care in areas that include complex trauma, renal dialysis, cardiac care, stroke and neurosurgery, intensive care, acute mental health, family birthing centre, neonatal intensive care, paediatric services, and regional cancer services.  WRH provides a broad range of medical and surgical services required to support these specialized areas for more than 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County.

Windsor Regional Hospital is seeking full-time or part-time General Adult Psychiatrists to support their inpatient and Emergency Room Adult Psychiatry services.

Working with a team of 12 psychiatrists, successful candidates will share responsibility for inpatient services as well as consult liaison service and emergency department coverage. With 68 psychiatric beds including an 8-bed PICU and two 30-bed units, the WRH Ouellette campus provides acute mental health care for residents of Windsor and Essex County who are over 16 years of age.  Services are focused on crisis intervention, inpatient care, including psychiatric consults in the Emergency Medicine Department. General Adult Psychiatrists provide support to hospital inpatient programs and services.  Staff Psychiatrists also have personal offices where they attend private patients, either in post-hospitalization follow-up or as referred by other physicians in the community.

The ideal candidates will possess a Canadian Fellowship in Psychiatry, be eligible for licensure in Ontario, and have solid clinical & interpersonal skills.
